Magnet Valkyrion
Left Leg of Exodia

Combo #3, added on August 26, 2002:

Sometimes it's hard to decide whether to put certain cards in the Combo Center or Card Discussion, but due to the heavy emphasis on comboing with this card, I decided that it fit best here.

There are 3 Magnet Warriors besides the Magnet Valkyrion.  They are all Level 4 monsters with no abilities, and the same affinity and class as the Magnet Valkyrion.  Their stats are printed below:

Magnet Warrior Alpha: 1400 Attack, 1700 Defense
Magnet Warrior Beta: 1700 Attack, 1600 Defense
Magnet Warrior Gamma: 1500 Attack, 1800 Defense

Now, for cards that are required for a combo, their stats aren't too bad, but this is for a reason: high stats make them difficult to search for.  Alpha and Gamma can be searched for with Critter and Giant Rat, but  Black Forest Witch does nothing for them.

One of the great things about this card is that you can discard the Warriors from play or from your hand, just like a Fusion.  Additionally, just like a Fusion Monster, the Magnet Valkyrion can't be special summoned from the Graveyard unless it has been in play first.

Everyone and their mother knows about the infamous Devil Franken combo to kill your opponent in one turn, but there are very few who know that this can also be done with the Magnet Valkyrion.  Discard the Magnet Warriors to play the Valkyrion, sacrifice the Valkyrion to special summon the Magnet Warriors, and use either Raise Dead or Early Burial to bring back the Valkyrion.  You can now attack for 8100...just barely enough to kill your opponent.

Now, there are advantages and disadvantages to using this strategy over Devil Franken.  To deal 9000 damage with Devil Franken's Combo, you need 2 cards in your hand, and one of them can be searched for.  To deal 8100 damage with the Magnet Warriors, you need 4 cards in your hand, and one of them can be searched for.  Additionally, it is a good idea to add a card that clears the field of Magics and Traps, and another that clears the field of Monsters.  Add 2 more cards to each combo for this, and you get 4 vs 6.

However, the Magnet Valkyrion has a few distinct advantages.  First of all, you don't have to sacrifice 5000 Life Points.  If you try the combo and it fails, you're still doing okay.  Additionally, you can still revive the Magnet Valkyrion later, whereas you cannot revive your dead Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon in a Devil Franken Deck.  Also, the Magnet Valkyrion strategy is broken into 4 different damage-dealers, which means that your opponent has to deal with all 4 monsters if they want to survive for long.

The last advantage, though a small one, is that the Magnet Warriors are not dragons.  There are tons of cards in this game that aim specifically to destroy dragons, and the Magnet Warriors won't be phased by these cards.

While Devil Franken is fast and reckless, the Magnet Warriors work at a relaxed pace.  It's a combo that you'll probably have to wait for, but once it finally goes off, your opponent will have a lot to deal with.

Ultra Rare, Level 8
Earth-affinity, Rock-class
3500 Attack, 3850 Defense
Ability: You may only special summon this card by discarding Alpha, Beta, and Gamma from your field or hand.  If Alpha, Beta and Gamma are in your Graveyard, you may sacrifice this card from play to special summon the 3 of them.
